    About the Department :

    The District Information & Public Relations Office, South Salmara Mankachar is situated in Kharuabandha, at a distance of 500 meters from the District headquarter.

    The Department of Information and Public Relations, which is popularly known as JANASANYOG has been working as the mouthpiece of the Government to reach to the people and to inform the Government regarding the public opinion. The Department is the linkage between the Government machinery and the people. The duties of DIPRO include attending meetings of various Govt. Departments and writing Government Press Releases and send the same with photographs to Media persons. The DIPRO acts as the eyes and ears of the Government disseminating information about various activities and welfare schemes among the public.

     The office is presently headed by Shri Bibhash Medhi, ACS (i/c), SDIPRO.

    The Responsibilities of Department:

    To take  the schemes announced by the Government  of  Assam  to the  general  people through  various  Print  and  Electronic  Media and also  through  F.L.S (Fixed Loud Speaker).

    To create awareness on the schemes by organizing exhibitions.

    To make publicity of the development schemes and information advertisement.

    To Produce  News  reel  bulletins  on the Government  schemes  and  to  screen them  in rural  areas  and  theatres.

    DIPRO provides Public Address System regularly to all Govt. meetings, seminars, field programmes and functions. Public Address System has been also provided free of cost to non Govt. programmes other than the religious and political nature.

    The office is fully equipped with the facilities of Mobile Announcement When & Where required. It becomes very much useful and essential to communicate with the people of remote areas.

    DIPRO Organises Public/ Awareness meetings cum cultural programmes on some special occasions like National Press Day etc. The Department has been constantly endeavouring to forge greater progressive unity and harmony among all communities and all sections of people of South Salmara Mankachar district through sustained and subtle use of all modes of PR exercises.
