3.South Salmara College:

South Salmara College was started, forming a Sponsoring Body in a general meeting held on 5th of December 1986. South Salmara is a remote area of western Assam. The college was situated in South Salmara Bazar an old historical place from the British era. The mighty Brahmaputra flows in the western side and the tributary river Zingiram flows in the eastern side.
Abdul Bareque Miah was the Founder Principal of the college and took his charge on 8th August 1988. He worked as principal for long 30 years. Dewan Joynal Abedin the MLA of the area was the founder president of the college sponsoring body and late Abdur Shakoor Mozumder was the founder secretary. A group of leaders of the area was giving their valuable services for the establishment of the college. The first academic session was started in the year 1988-89 with few students in Arts stream of TDC classes under Gauhati University. The University accorded permission to start 1st year class of TDC (Arts) in the general course in 1988-89. The classes were started in the morning shift at RBPHS School, South Salmara. The university accorded final affiliation up to BA Pt-II in TDC (Arts) general course in 2010-11. Though the college got its own building in the year 1991 but the river Brahmaputra eroded and damaged the building and campus in the year 1999. Now the college Authority has built up new building in the
new site. Now the college is situated at Sholeartek under the revenue village of Tumni Simlakandi. Thousands of students of this backward area are studying in the college; among them 40 percent are the girl students. The result of the college is very good under Gauhati University.
